Ed Corlett has over 30 years experience in financial and operating management. He spent the first five years of his career with a “Big-4” public accounting firm attaining the position of Audit Manager. Ed’s background includes five years as Chief Financial Officer for a $1 billion Tier 1 automotive supplier which was owned by a private equity firm and four years as CFO for a $250 million publicly-traded industrial coatings manufacturer. During his tenure with the industrial coatings manufacturer Mr. Corlett also spent two years as the Chief Operating Officer of an $80 million business unit and led a significant earnings turn-around. He has served as a partner in a successful consulting firm for the last seven years providing finance and accounting services to a broad spectrum of businesses.

Ed’s industry background has provided him diverse experience including all aspects of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, strategic planning and forecasting, debt and equity financing, financial stakeholder and board of director presentations and relations, finance and accounting department management, general management, treasury and cash management at both healthy and troubled companies, risk management, alignment of employee benefits/compensation plans to management’s strategic objectives, finance and accounting department upgrades and turnarounds, financial reporting and accounting department process improvement to achieve speed and cost reduction without sacrificing accuracy and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and internal control studies.

In addition to the industry experience described above, Ed’s senior level experiences include CFO and Corporate Controller positions at a small start-up organization, a high-growth publicly-traded company and a multi-location construction equipment distributor. This career path has provided Mr. Corlett an opportunity to experience a broad range of industries and management philosophies as well as the challenges faced by both successful and troubled businesses. He brings this experience and perspective to bear in his consulting practice.

Ed’s consulting engagements have included several acquisition due diligence assignments, assisting a start-up company raise $7 million of debt and equity capital, operating vs. shut-down analysis of a troubled $100 million private equity portfolio company, transition CFO/controllership services, standardization of inventory cost management and financial reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, evaluation and upgrade of accounting departments at acquired operations and implementation of a budgeting and financial reporting system at a large multi-location Tier One automotive supplier.

Ed is a Cum Laude graduate from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Michigan and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, Association for Corporate Growth and the Financial Executives Institute.
